		<description>I definitely agree. One thing I would have to add is that when the applicant pool shrinks and you're a borderline admit, it might be one of the things that puts you in their favor. This also  bumps into the "online resume" idea where you can show off details of your large projects easily, whether it be programming applications, videos of performances, or a science fair project. This however, does &lt;strong&gt;not&lt;/strong&gt; substitute for properly describing the scope of your projects inside your application (1st place in regional, etc.) Thanks for the comment James!</description>

When they have 30k applicants, they're not going to have time to checkout your online presence. (I do recall a space on the CMU application for a personal website though...)

You're online profile probably matters more when you're looking for a job, where employers can take the time to checkout what you've been upto online.</description>
